Sustainable Egg Gift Box Wins Silver at A' Design Awards

Chien-Cheng Liu's "Win the Future" project, a collaboration with Chinyi Eggs Technology, has been recognized at the prestigious 60th Golden Horse Awards. This unique Free-Range Egg Gift Box stands out as a testament to sustainable design, earning accolades for its eco-friendly approach. The project, which began and concluded in Taipei within the span of a month, was showcased at the Golden Horse Awards in November 2023, highlighting the swift and efficient execution of this innovative design.

What sets this design apart is its commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, which are intricately woven into every aspect of the packaging. The use of soy-based ink in printing and the avoidance of repetitive hot stamping are deliberate choices to enhance the box's recyclability. This thoughtful approach not only reduces environmental impact but also transforms a simple commodity into a gift that carries a message of sustainability.

The Free-Range Egg Gift Box is a marvel of eco-innovation, utilizing a paper tray made from a blend of recycled paper pulp and eggshell powder. This ingenious material composition, comprising approximately 85% recycled pulp and 15% eggshell powder, significantly reduces carbon emissions. In fact, for every ton of this eggshell paper tray produced, there is an estimated reduction of 495.9 kilograms of carbon emissions when compared to traditional recycled paper.

Chinyi Eggs Technology's groundbreaking technology to repurpose discarded eggshells has been seamlessly integrated into the design by Chihe. The result is a packaging solution that does not compromise on durability or texture, while promoting the principles of environmental stewardship and recycling. The design's technical specifications, measuring 200mm x 200mm x 70mm, ensure that it is not only practical but also visually appealing.

Aligning with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Decent Work and Economic Growth, Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, Responsible Consumption and Production, and Partnerships for the Goals, the Free-Range Egg Gift Box is a prime example of how design can contribute to a more sustainable future. Eric Liu of Chihe highlights the importance of such collaborations, especially as companies prepare sustainability reports, noting that innovative designs can significantly enhance these reports.
